Between the earthquakes in Japan and the floods in Thailand, this has been a very hard year for the electronics industry.
Nikon’s factories were all but wiped out with still no word on when or if they will resume production. The shortage of Nikon cameras have made consumers run to purchasing Cannon and Sony branded cameras. This has caused similar shortages for these brands as well as major price hikes. Christmas presents may be a lot more expensive this year. But I have a suggestion.
Through trials and tribulations, we, ourselves, grow the most. Use this time of inventory shortage as a challenge to yourself. Learn to use the equipment you have more efficiently. Sometimes, the best picture isn’t taken with superb equipment, but rather superb skill.
Ask one of the experts at Photo Central for some tips and tricks. Than practice them yourself. Most camera shops don’t mind giving a few juicy tidbits of info now and then.
Better yet, sign up for our classes. If you sign up for lessons, they are obliged to spill their photography tricks and tips all over the table. Have the professionals teach you to use that camera better. The money you invest in a class will far outlast the money you invest in a camera.
If you are looking for that perfect Christmas present for a loved one, gift them with some knowledge. The new camera they wanted may be out of reach at the moment. Leave that idea for next year, or a birthday. Give them the gift of a few photography lessons. You might be very surprised what a few lessons can do.
My point is if you can’t get the camera you want now; learn how to use the one you got better.
