Pierre Lavoie

Photo Central is proud to present to you the work of Pierre Lavoie. Pierre approached us about a year ago with the challenge of printing 14 very large images for a gallery project he had been working on for sometime. The result was spectacular, and we are happy to showcase those images here.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Pierre Lavoie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and raised in the city's French Quarter of Saint-Boniface. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree. from the Saint-Boniface College in 1988, and graduated with honours from Red River College's Graphic Design program in 1991. For over twenty years, Pierre has worked full-time for Pollard Banknote Limited, an international printing company specializing in products and services for the lottery industry. As artist and designer, he has created artwork for clients throughout Canada and the United States as well as South America, Europe and Asia.

In his personal artistic work, Pierre combines digital rendering skills and print industry experience to create timeless portraits of local landmarks and their surroundings. With vibrant colour and dramatic composition, Pierre aims to capture these historical sites in their most compelling and picturesque state.

In February 2011, Pierre presented Temoins: Images du Vieux Saint-Boniface, his first solo exhibition work in the main gallery of the Franco-Manitoban Cultural Center.
